Other children’s neighbourhoods

The first children’s neighbourhood in Scotland is just beginning, in the east end of Glasgow in Bridgeton and Dalmarnock.

There are similar initiatives to children’s neighbourhoods already running in other places:

Although all of these initiatives are run according to the local context, they share a set of principles for working in partnership across a large number of organisations.

One of the main principles is ‘collective impact’. This means lining up the goals and objectives of organisations and groups working in one area, so that it’s easier to work together and achieve a bigger impact for children and young people.

collective impact

In Scotland, the aim is to use the principles (like collective impact) from these other areas, and work with local people and organisations to develop a Scottish model of a children’s neighbourhood.
