About us

Between 2018 and 2022 Children’s Neighbourhoods Scotland (CNS) worked closely with children and young people and their families, as well as local public and third sector organisations, in order to support efforts and services which reduced poverty, increased participation within communities, and helped tackle the issues making it difficult for children and young people to live happy and healthy lives.

CNS was based in six neighbourhood sites across Scotland. We worked in the urban communities of Bridgeton and Dalmarnock, Castlemilk and Drumchapel in Glasgow city, Radnor Park in Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire, and the rural community or Rigside, and the small town of Lanark in South Lanarkshire.

Our Vision

We wish to see a world in which no child grows up facing inequality, disadvantage or living in poverty.

Our Mission

We use a holistic, climate aware and place-based community-led approach. Driven by the voices and views of children and young people, local people and professionals.

We listen to, work with, and empower children and young people to have their voices heard. Enabling them to contribute and shape their community and have a say in matters that affect them and their life chances.

We will support local partnerships and collaboration between organisations and services to enable change across the range of contexts, in which young people play, learn and grow; valuing enjoying and protecting our environment.

Our Values

These values underpin our work at Children’s Neighbourhoods Scotland. They guide our ways of working, our research and our activity at every step.

We work with honesty, openness and are transparent in our actions and decisions. We share our thinking and learning and are committed to improving life opportunities and chances for all children and young people.
